When thinking about buying or selling property, a huge part of a REALTOR®’s job is ensuring that they know the market and that they pass along that information to their clients, which in turn helps ensure that the buyer or seller are getting a fair price for their property. So, what exactly does it mean to “know the market”?
It’s so much more than just the price tag!
Knowledge of the market should include whether properties are increasing or decreasing in value (generally speaking), how long on average those listings of that type are listed for before selling, whether we are seeing more or less properties being listed compared to previous years, etc. These statistics can vary greatly based on location and type of listing too.
